You may have read that in the Power Wagon Advertiser. The drums are not easily replaced, they aren't making any more, so to loosely quote Gordon, make sure that you have confidence in the person turning the drums, do not over-cut them or let the person doing the work get lazy and not watch what he is doing. Don't let the machinist tell you the drum is not turnable if there is one scratch that exceeds the max depth in one area. Turn the drum only as much as needed to get a good safe stopping surface, 80% of a drum is better than a drum in the trash, so turn th edrum in small increments.
I'm sure I've not covered the subject as articulately as Gordon did, but mainly be careful with those drums!
