It had been repainted.

In early 2003 Dodge had a bunch of trucks built in Mexico with bad primer/paint. This is one of them. It was totally diassembled and repainted by Dodge, so it couldn't be sold as new. It still has the 10 year paint warranty. I had to sign a form acknowledging the fact that the entire truck had been repainted before I could register it.

It was a sweet deal, I bought it for ~$8k under sticker...which hadn't been "stuck" to the window yet. The sticker was still in a bag (along with the front license plate bracket, owners manual, antenna and some other stuff) in the pocket behind the passenger's seat :-)
