Joe, I use a PVC pipe fitting for a seal driver. An old coupling or scrap piece of heavy wall plastic pipe works well. It will not damage the seal. Start tapping going around in a circle to get the seal started going in evenly. Once you get it started, you can increase the force of the hammer blows.
