Dave, the .250" expanded steel is to protect thr radiator from a stone hit. The Electric fan you see is my only fan. Its only come on once, and that was during the parade in Iowa 2004. It was real hot and we were moving slow..
I had my Magellan NAV 5600 feeding my Laptop running Streets and Trips. I was always centered on a moving map. You could do just fine with only a paper map, It was a nice extra. The way points were established targets enroute. I always knew the distance till I arrived at that point.....Dont forget, that is straight line distance, as if in a boat or plane.
