What about the Mega-Cab Dodge? It's larger and longer than the ferd or gm and available with the Cummins 600. Short bed, this the first year, but I'd suspect that the long bed is just around the corner. It's big enough that the rear seats recline.
I suspect that most daily driver loyalty stems from what our family or friends drive. My experience with ferd was a sad, sad episode, three power joke motors, two transmissions and multiple various parts that constantly failed.
When I'm out on the highway, cross country, I only count the trucks that are pulling loads or trailers, the vast majority of them are Cummins powered Dodges. I'm starting to see a few more Isuzu powered gms and diesel ferds ( I wish Dodge built a 4500 and 5500 model), but the serious loads are behind Dodges. Here in SoCal the half ton ferds and gm's dominate, 'cause frankly, most of them are show trucks, pretty paint, big lifts, plenty of chrome and nothing heavier in the bed than the day laborers they just picked up at Home Depot.
