I doubt your filter is removing water. A simple settling bowl will sort the water out. And getting your engine up to operating temp will. Engine oil will run at 270 degrees and cook the water out. A 1 micron filter will not.

Can you point me to any studies done on this filtering system? Does UPS use it? Does it extend engine life, or just oil life?

I can show you several engines in my family with over 200,000 miles on them. Normal oil, normal filters, changed erratically. 14 oil changes per 100,000, @ $8= $112, plus adding oil @ $1 each 2,000 miles = $36, total cost $148. How does these figures compare? please add on your initial installation cost, parts only.
