I once drove a Scout down to Northern New Mexico to pick up a W500 Crew Cab and a D300 pick up. I built an extention at a local welding shop in Raton for the 10 foot bed of the 2 ton and put my Scout up there and then built a drop hitch that stuck way out to hook the tow bar for the D300 up to. It was a fairly heavy duty comercial tow bar and even though it didn't provide any ability for up and down movement it towed just fine all the way back to Kansas City after a stop in Denver for a new rear drive shaft for the 500 which cost almost as much as the 300. Also no one added that you should always disconect your rear drive shaft of the towed vehicle or you'll screw up your transfercase rear bearing. Or is it the transmision rear bearing? Ask Greg Coffin.
