If it's still 6 volt, it's positive ground. The starter is stator wound so it will work either way. If the truck has been changed to 12 volt it may be negative ground although I've seen some conversions that stayed with positive ground. All Dodge trucks were 6 volt through 1955 and some early '56 models were too. Supposedly this was to allow fleet buyers to keep from buying extra parts but i think it was just to use up 6 volt parts.
