Maybe something is wrong with the motor. I just bought a WC53 with 73,000 miles in "showroom condition" (sort of) and it pulls 4.89s and 36" tires fine.
If you want to safely go 70-75 in a PW you can. With a new motor (preferably diesel, in my opinion), 5 speed, 4.89s, front disks, and radial tires (which for this vehicle ain't cheap). And power steering. You will spend about $8-13,000 for parts. Alot more if you pay someone to do it for you, hopefully not butcher your beautiful truck.
If that terrifies you, tune up the truck, put 4.89s in that will hopefully help with the tuned up motor, and be happy with it.
