Telling me this engine is a derivative of the powerstroke doesn't exactly make me drool. I'm a fleet diesel mechanic. I have little experience with the cummins a or b series engines, but the about 10 cummins c series powered vehicles I service are mostly just dump the oil, change the filters, adjust the valves once in a while just so you feel like you've done something, and run the heck out of them. The three powerstroke vehicles in the fleet (as well as a friend's truck) require constant attention, particularly with the (absolute junk) cold start setup.

Navistar has some excellent products, but my experience with the new (at least to me) electronic controlled, solenoid fired injector engines is less than positive. I'll take a DT466 over a DT466E any day of the week, despite fuel economy, emissions, and power improvements. Maybe I've had bad luck, but in my experience the reliabiliy just isn't there. I'll take a proven straight six with a mechanical injection pump.
