I was sitting in the local cafe where I eat lunch about everyday. A family was sitting next to me having lunch also. I have spoke with the guy a few times as he has an old Pilot House Dodge with a stake bed. Nice old truck that needs a few minor things but is just fine the way it is. You could drive it in a parade if you wanted to or haul stuff in the afternoon and not worry about a scratch or two. Not a museum piece but not headed for the junkyard. Just a good old Dodge truck! ;)

Anyways their son is high school age and they are discussing transportation for the boy. The mother informs him the insurance for the Camaro he wanted will be 1700$ every 6 months and that the Camaro was not an option.

The dad then suggested doing a few things to "Pete" (AKA - Pilot House Dodge!) and the boy could drive Pete to school and stuff.

The boy really protested that Pete takes a mile or more to get up to 50mph and thats all the faster it would go anyways. The dad said yes I know! And 50mph is all the faster you need to go! HAHA! Pete isnt cool to drive. Its an old truck and it doesnt have power steering and on and on and on........

Then the bicycle was suggested as a transportation mode...........

So now Pete is starting to look better all the time. All this going on during the lunch.

I just wanted to stand up and say if the boy doesnt want to drive Pete I would be glad to drive Pete!HAHA!

How many of you out there have kids this age right now and do they show any interest in the "old trucks"?

Todd
