I used 1947 Panel doors on my Carryall. They were 4.500" to long and had to have the bottoms cut off and reboxed. The cut went thru the inspection covers at the bottom. Look at the picture of the doors open and you will see there has been no cut thru the inspection cover area. The tops would not have been cut and boxed since that is where the radius is on the door and the work to finish it would be huge. In its self, I am not sure what this picture is showing us.

But then consider this. On a stock 3/4 ton Carryall, open the rear upper and lower tail gates and look at the body openings where Panel Hinges would have to mount. You will see stamped indented areas (2) each side, top and bottom. When you remove all the skin as I did, you will find drilled and tapped mounting plates welded directly behind the indented areas, with the same hole pattern as the Panel Hinge holes. The Holes in the body to match the mount plate holes were not punched out.

Based on this, I believe that the WC-53 Body was used in some applications ?? with Panel Doors. And that seems to bear out the apparently non cut doors on the Carryall on Ebay.

All asumptions, but it appears to make some sense. Could it be that the Carryall used a
Civilian Panel Body but with the addition of side windows to meet a militayr requirement??
