Every Sears product I've ever owned that had a universal motor in it (120V brush-type motor) has burned up fairly impressively. A drill, circular saw, and weed eater all died with much smoke and sparks. The shop-vac was sparking and making bad noises when I gave it away. I will never buy another Sears power tool again, unless it's $1 at a yard sale. If I want a disposable tool, I'll get one for 1/4 the price at Harbor Freight, otherwise I'll stick with Skil for circular saws and Milwaukie for everything else.
