my experiance with DP40LF(LF means lead free )is that it is not anywhere as durable as the old dp40. I would use veri-prime from dupont as it actually etches into the metal. If the media blaster does a good job it should be very chemically neutral and free of rust. you might price out powder coating as I found it cheaper then buying the products to do my frame myself (my frame cost me 600 including blasting
