In both my PW & M37 I could drive to town and back (24 miles & steep hills) running 80/140 gear lube and they would be barly warm to the touch. They have never got hot to the point I could not hold my hand on them and that includes the transmission. Course I never tried on a hot day after driving 100+ mile either. Mark H.
