Hi, found this forum and need some help. I am a true MOPAR guy who ownes 18 Mopars and just bought my first POWER WAGON. I restore muscle cars and do body and paint, but am a terrible mechanic.

I just bought a 59 DODGE POWER WAGON W100.
The guy I bought it from knew NOTHING baout the truck. Its a 318 according to the decoder on this site. Its a 3on the tree, which I hate. It also has the 8? lug rims but is a half ton? It also has the PTO, which the guy could not get to engage as he really did not know what he was doing.

I ahve some question and really need some help. I am going to restore this truck, nicely but need to make it more user friendly to keep it.

Any help is appreicated.

#1:How hard is it to convert the steering to power steering. WIf so, what vehicles parts typically swap well? I have mainly MOPAR MUSCLE car stuff.

2:Will newer mod 3/4 ton rims fit this multi lug wheel. I dont have the truck at home yet as I took it right to the glass shop and dropped it off for the weekend to get some side glass replaces as this was cracked.

There are two levers/ shifters on the floor and the trans shifter is on the column. Which one on the floor is for the transfer case and which is the PTO and how does this work. The dash pull out lever appears to be frozen????

How hard to convert this from 3 on the tree to a 3 /4 speed on the floor. Can I use the same trans for a 3 speed on the floor and just ditch the old linkage and get new stuff????

And, its a 318, but is it a 318 POLY, it doe snot look wide enough to be a poly. I have several nice built lat mod 318s and a great built 340, will they bolt to this trans????? They would provide a great deal of power if needed. Hwever, this motor does not smoke or have a lack of power. What do you guys suggest.

I will post some images tonight as I am heading into town to take some pics and do some erands.

Any good books to buy for help. Manuals, ect.

all help is appreciated. I was actually looking for flat fendered power wagon but found this, its the rounder big rear stepside mod. It has the big real wrap around window.

thanks, Dave Brown.
