They are played to give the sheep fair warning? I alway thought that the Irish invented the pipes, and gave them to the Scots...and the Scots have never gotten the joke.
I saw the Black Watch at a pipe in a few years ago, those guys could play. They also marched and danced rings around the New Hampshire State Police pipers, and could probably out shoot them too. Like all of us, a hobby to you is a profession to some, and some of us just enjoy the show.
