Try shutting off the gas while running, see if it don't run a lot better. Keep the fuel off til it dies, then re-start. This will allow the float to drop to the bottom of the float chamber, then when re-started the inrush of gas might wash the crud that was holding the needle open out of the way. Shut off the gas by either disconnecting the fuel line on the input side of the pump, or pinch that same hose with a pair of pliers. That should be the only flex line in the fuel system DO NOT USE RUBBER HOSE UNDER PRESSURE! Many 'stuck needles' are caused by a sliver of rubber hose, from a raw cut piece of steel line that abrades the inside of a piece of rubber hose. NEVER clamp a rubber hose to a steel line, always use a brass barb fitting.
