Getting mine off for an engine rebuild a couple years ago was a real pain. I ended up bending it, so used my spare. I tried Kroil, heat, banging whilst pulling with the puller, three different pullers, all to no avail. I finally decided just to get it off any way I could, so in the process of pounding on it and pulling too hard, it bent. Rust on the shaft had fused the metal beyond what Kroil and a torch etc. could free up.
So I guess my advice is to consider that VPW sells these things! I'm wishing I had JD's advice on the cover. At this point I guess I'm lucky it doesn't leak!
