Hi Dave,

Glad to hear you are considering another run. As you know, here in the East we're lucky if we can find a decent chassis-cab, much less a whole truck. Well-preserved fire trucks are the rare exception.

I know of several guys, myself included, who have projects on the back-burner or in the offing that will be interested in a first series bed in the next year or two. By my rough estimate the total bed price is over $3,500 once you add front panel, tailgate, bed strips, and rear fenders (originals if you can get them, copies if you can't). For alot of us regular guys that's just too much. You end up with essentially a show truck with a beautiful bed you don't want to mess up hauling firewood, etc.

Having said all of this, I am continually amazed by the difference in the prices of trucks with pick-up beds versus trucks with nice flatbeds or platform/stake bodies. It seems a pick-up bed adds at least $4,000 to the asking/selling price. There are several nice trucks without pick-up beds on the Photo Classifieds right now that would be more than welcome in my garage.

Maybe you could make the bedsides in Thailand, and ship 'em home. Just kidding! Really. You make a great product right here in the US and if I had the money I'd buy one just to have on hand for a future project. I could even make it into a couch and put it in the den. My wife would love it!

They're still printing money, but will you still print bedsides? Keep us posted, whatever you decide...
