all vehicles made after 1981 have a 3 char
WMI code as the first 3 positions of the VIN
now 1 is USA
2 is canada
3 is Mexico
a high % of Chrysler (Daimler Chrysler) vehicles are made in Mexico - also quite a
few in Canada
if you have a 1 or a 5 the final assembly point was in the USA
not to say all the parts were made in the USA
there are a lot of "Japanese" cars that are
made in the USA
my 87 Toyota MR2 now has 350,000 miles on it
changed brakes at 225 but did not need them
still gets 32mpg on the highway at 80 or so
and 42 if i go 65
engine has only had 3 timing belts (with water pump, hoses & pulley belts every 100 k)
plugs every 90 or so
have receipts for about 125 toyota oil filters
have only used toyota parts never any other junk.
