You are absolutely right about feel. This was my point. On a wheel bearing you tighten till you can not turn the wheel and then back off. To take up slack.I removed all the shims from the knuckle to establish a starting point. Just like you would do with a wheel hub by tightning the nut. Of course upon checking what i got is 30 inch pounds of tourque.Istead of the binding, one would expect. Which is fine. I knew putting the bearing on the top would change the way you would adjust this. I guess if one wanted to get all technical you could shim the bearing before you press it on,use that for a base to shim with the caps. But it's not a rocket,and i'm not a rocket scientist. It is fine,it'l work and the commercial is over and the Dirty Dozen is back on.Hmmm the 6x6's are driving by and they sound like they got diesel's in them.Thanks for the imput. Lucian
