If I remember correctly, you adjust it so at full throttle the linkage pushes back fully. make sure it isn't adjusted to prevent the throttle linkage from moving its full distance. i may be wrong that at full throttle the trans linkage is at its most rearward position, you can adjust it to be almost at its most rearwerd and drive the truck to see if it downshifts to quickly what you jam the throttle. the less it pushes back the slower, or less it will downshift.I think maybe about 1/2 inch of free play would be right.
