Sorry to hear about what happen to Digger! I have had to do this for 8 of my best buddys over just the last 9 years and it never gets any easier!! We had 5 Newfoundlands all close to the same age so 2-3 years were extra hard on us. We will allways have Newfoundlands even tho I know a few more will be buired under the tree outside our house befor my time comes. Digger may have had a Brain Tumuor forming or another medical problem to cause this to happen. You did the right thing for him. Remember the good times and find yourself another Buddy. There all different and you can never replace the one you lost but the new one will fill the spot and be your best freind again in no time. Mark H.
