Oxy-propane will cut, which is all a lot of places do with their old gas welding sets anyway these days, but you can't weld with it. Maybe it will braze -- I don't know. I just like the versatility of the old Victor torch set. It may not be the fastest or the cheapest way to do anything, but it will do more different things in one unit than any other system. It's also simple enough that when I take it way out in the boonies I know it will work. Without oxy-acetylene, how much different equipment do you need to drag out to your jobsite to cut, weld, braze, and bend where there's no plug-in electricity?
