By its nature, any diesel, when run in a atmosphere with the 'right' concentration of flammable or combustible vapors, can run away. Other engine problems can also cause a run away. The only way to shut her down is to shut off the air coming into the engine, or fire inert gas into the air intake, which is dangerous because your to close.
