The NP201 and the NP205 are nearly identical. The 201 can be run in 2WD low with the detents removed and the shifters bent. I don't know what gear design that Dan is refering too, (NP200?) but he may be correct, although I have second hand knowledge of a guy who screwed up his NP201 by running his t-case with two shifters, he was in high range on the front axle and low range on the rear axle...whoops....
