First off, the block is on the engine stand and stripped. (I just steam cleaned it last weekend.)

Removing the bearings is not too much of a problem. Why? With carefully filing, the bearing shell can be easily compressed towards the filed gap and slipped out. I already did the front bearing. Also - a rubber expansion plug sometimes can be used to hold the bearing as it is driven out by pounding on the plug. My front bearing did not want to come out using the rubber expansion plug trick. The inner bearings are tough to get to, hence my posting for help.

How was the oil pressure? According to the seller it was fine and the engine only burned a little oil when first started. I never heard the engine run. However, the rod bearings were wearing into the copper and the cam lobes were wearing through their hardened exteriors.
