A set of NOS latches (or take offs with more spring tension) would have worked just as well. There's plenty of folks running stock latches at 70+ mph without problems. These were free...and I'm a kind of thifty :-) Plus, I think they look pretty cool

My latches were pretty much shot when I got the truck. When the driver's side latch let go while I was securing the hood a few months back I had visions of it happening while on the trailer....hauling butt up NM 550....<yikes>.
