Did you actually see the crank moving, or just the damper?

Getting back to square one, you have 3 problems: Low oil pressure, knocking, and end movement. It's possibly a couple different deficiencies. First I would check the thrust brg with a feeler gauge, you said something was moving 1/16, it should be obvious, good or bad. Or it may be a loose pulley on the damper moving. Oil feed can be a problem too, maybe a missing plug in an internal oil galley dumping oil back into crank, possibly the reliev valve in the pump. Check all the oil galleys, for plugs in both ends...was pump properly mounted to rear cap? I'd say from the pics that you had oil flow, just no pressure. No oil at all would have melted the brgs.

I hope you find some discerible problems to solve, and not have to put it back together without knowing fersure that it's fixed...just to have the smae diffugulties again. Good luck...
