The outermost layer is very soft, and has been polished. Just like it is supposed to do. Bearings might look like that if not even run, just assembled, turned by hand, dis-assembled...but thats from net pics.You don't show or say about thrust surface- is it worn, does it fit the crank within tolerance? Check it with a feeler gauge. It doesn't look like brgs are the prob, except thrust maybe, and no oil pressure due to possible plumbing problem? I wouldn't load the shotgun yet....
