Ebay is most certainly an auction. "Classifieds" have an asking price, and you either pay it or not. I suspect that you have had little experience with auctions. There are many different varieties of auctions, normal live bid, silent bid, live proxy bid, inspected sealed bid, uninspected sealed bid, and others. Auctions are not for everyone, to benefit from them you must be well disciplined and educated as to the value of the items you bid on. As far as your statement of an auction having the merchandise, buyer and seller all in one place, this is not always true. I am leaving in the morning to pickup 18 lots of uninspected merchandise I bought from a sealed bid auction. I faxed my bid to Phoenix, I'm in Indiana, I sent my payment to Pennsylvannia, and the merchandise is in Missouri. This was most definately an auction, I got the items I bid high enough on, some items people out bid me on others, ie; an auction. Can I ask why you are so distrusting of ebay and auctions? No disrespect is intended, I'm just curious.
