Randall,
From what you describe, it sounds like you are looking at a W500, or even something larger. In my experience, these trucks of the early '60s, were some of the toughest, most dependable, useful trucks ever built. My former employer used W500 flatbeds with material bins, electric hoist booms, air compressors, and AC generators mounted on the back, along with provisions for mounting reels and coils of wire. The trucks were almost always stoced to the hilt with wooden crossarms, crates and boxes of insulators, and all sorts of hardware used in power line construction. Even loaded they ran comfortably at 55mph all day, if we needed them to. We used to get them stuck at will, to use as as anchor for winching our big trucks around, and then just drive them away when we were done. Obviously, I don't think you could go wrong, if you have the need for a truck like this, or if you just like this type of stuff. I would almost give my eye teeth for one of them; well, I'd do that for a lot of things. As to price, it sounds good to me, if the truck is in decent shape and running good. Good luck.

M
