The front axle on these can be a real problem as no one seems to know much about them any more. They do appear to be the same axle as was used on the half-tracks, though I have not been able to confirm this. According to the reference books, they are both of the same manufacture, with the same weight ratings and gear ratios. As soon as I can, I plan to measure a friends half-track axle and compare it to my W500.
