If you have the square top Ball&Ball carb, check the float level if it's running rich. Just keep lowering it until the "when I let off the gas it floods" condition barely exists. I got mine right after about 3 float tang adjustments. The final setting was way below the recommended setting.
The accelerator pump, being a vacuum operated affair is still crap! You'll still have an off idle lean stumble.
