Almost verbatim my experience. I quit a model railroad club because of politics and the know alls going out of their way to belittle anyone who they considered approaching their lever of expertise. (I am not fingerpointing here.)
I would urge everyone to consider the importance of getting valuable info on setting valves, finding parts, etc., than worrying over minor infractions of nomenclature.
My model airplane club has become so absorbed by politics that the meetings are 3/4 politics and 1/4 models, and we rarely get to even hear about all the models because we run out of time.
Don't let that happen here.
