If they are well maintained, I don't know how you could break one in the Dodge application. I have seen the IH 2 ton (1600) application break when the 5 bolts that hold the spindle to knuckle housing get loose or shear. Also, the bronze axel shaft bushings can wear if you don't have manual hubs. In answer to your question about parts availability, I've had no problems, as the Spicer 70 is still made, so differential parts are no problem. I think that Vintage Power Wagons has axel shafts and Tracta(sp?) joints. The bronze bushes I'm not sure about, but could be easily machined. The seals for the ball could be a real problem, as I have not tried to replace any for many years. I run Red Line SAE 140 synthetic in my Tracta joints, and my seals have held up very well.
