I would think that you could rebuild a motor yourself at a good machine shp for that amount of money. My concern with this engine that you are looking at is was it run after being rebuilt? How long or how many miles? If it wasn't run, how do you know the internal surfaces haven't got rust on them? This can ruin a rebuilt engine in no time. I've gotten rebuilt engines that had been rebuilt some time ago and when they were started, they smoked like a freight train and never quit. I have one now, it runs strong but looks like it's spraying for mosquitos.
