{{I am in the process of re-wiring my '55 C3 and I am not sure whether the heater is 6 or 12 volts.
Being a '55, I assume it was born with a 6V system and was later converted to 12V. The heater was
disconnected when I got the truck and I don't know if this was because they did not convert it.
anyone got any suggestions on identifying this thing? }}

Pull theheater assembly out if it isn't completely together. On the motor may be a small plate stating the amperage and voltage. If it isn't there or isn't readable, hook the motor to a 12 volt battery. It will either run at full speed but normally in which case it's a 12 volt, or it will try to take oof and scream like a banshee. If it does this, it's a 6 volt job. The short jolt of extra current won't hurt a good motor if it isn't held too long.

My '52 B-3-PW was originally 6 volt and converted. I plan on pulling the heater assembly out of mine to see which one I have. These got changed a lot over the years with some trucks not having them as original equipment.
