I usually never try to recommend or tell people how to or what to do with their truck but ZI feel that with something as rare as a command car to swap in an engine should be discouraged. For one thing the resale value of your truck is instantly lower especially if sheet metal is altered. Second as been mentioned countless times, These are old machines and just putting in a bigger engine will not make them bette road performers. (that goes for all of these old trucks. (Model T's are never going to compete on an interstate) Consider brakes, drive train safety features and other things necessary for making a modern vehicle. I think you should really reconsider modifying your command car. Sure it would be cool to hear the rumble of a V8 under the hood but that thrill wears off quickly especially when you realize you cut your resale potential by a huge amount. FYI
