Guys,

I am looking at a truck that claimed to be a 57 4wd with a Pontiac engine swapped into it.

I got some images, and numbers off the title, and I got nervous, so I asked for numbers off the frame, and images of the drivetrain.

The title VIN was for a 57 D100, which I feel is what the cab and front clip came from. The frame number did not make any sense to me as a 57 or later, it may have been a 54-56, but the first two numbers were hard to read, so I am not sure of that either.

The front axle is 6 bolt, which for a small knuckle dana 44 is only correct for 57-60, but if you look at the image above the shock mounts are on the rear of the axle instead of the top like a 57-60, and the steering arm is straight instead of curved like the 57-60.

The transfercase looks right, 10 bolt PTO like a NP201, but could it be a NP202? How do you tell?

I need help verifying what this pile of parts is made up of, so I know if there is anything worth going after.

One last clue not in the images, the locking hubs are marked IH for International Harvester, which is not a complete surprise, as IH hubs fit Dodge axles, but could this be a IH axle? Could all the drivetrain be from a IH? I don't know enought about IH details to say for sure.

If you need to see a 57-58 front axle for reference, go here:

Scroll down a bit and there are lots of detail shots of the front axle.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Eric
