This is our new report only 19% of Normal Snow Pack! Going to be a nasty Fire Season for Washington and Oregon this year. It was nice playing in the snow while it was here for a couple of weeks!
Report;
VERY DRY CONDITIONS PERSIST ACROSS NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST
WASHINGTON AS JANUARY 2005 COMPLETED THE 3RD STRAIGHT MONTH WITH
BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION. MOST RECORDING STATIONS AROUND THE AREA
HAD RAINFALL LAST MONTH WHICH RANKED JANUARY 2005 IN THE TOP 10
DRIEST MONTHS ON RECORD. EVEN MORE SERIOUS...THE NOVEMBER
2004-JANUARY 2005 RAINFALL TOTALS AT MOST LOCATIONS REPRESENT LESS
THAN HALF THE NORMAL RAINFALL THAT WOULD BE EXPECTED DURING THIS
PERIOD. IN ADDITION...SNOWPACK IN THE NORTH OREGON AND SOUTH
WASHINGTON CASCADES IS ONLY 19% OF NORMAL AND ONLY COMPARABLE TO THE
MEAGER SNOWPACKS IN THE WINTERS OF 1976-1977 AND 1980-1981.

During those years we had some of the worst Fire Seasons on record. Mark H.
