That's the stuff that's supposed to go in there. It used to be much more common in the 40's & 50's & Glenn in Seattle found the proper grade of Lubriplate as well but I think it turned out that you can only buy it in 5 gallon containers.
As far as I know the Farm supplies are the best source to buy it....Cornhead grease isn't really the right stuff but it may work better than wheel bearing grease if it doesn't leak out.
Wheelbearing grease will work excellent on the bearings...just not so good on the axle joints.
