Even though 10,000 people died in Thailand (more than half tourists) They got off easy compared to the rest of the asian peninsula. Phuket is now completly cleaned up and reconstruction is starting. The local elephants had to be used for much of the cleanup of colapsed buildings because the ground was too wet and soft for machinery. I doubt that I will ever be able to look at that beautiful tourquise water again without seeing hundereds of corpses floating in it.
