Greg, You're right about one thing...it's worth a ton less with the boom if you're planning to sell it after restoring it. I kind of like the boom...very useful but definitely not a selling feature.
You need to decide if you want to keep it or sell it. I'm sure one of these guys would love to have it so it's not like it needs to be sent to the scrap yard or anything. For all we know it's not even original to the truck anyway.
Have fun restoring & remember this...there is no right or wrong way, just the way that you like best & that's all that really matters.
