since it was put on in a variety of situations over the last two and a half years and while I have never engaged it while in 4wd nor would I that would include high and low and in all of the gears.. It has not bothered it that I can tell. It works like it always does I believe it has a electric silonoid that uses hydraulic pressure to engage the gears. as I believe we live in the same city you are welcome to look at it.
