I have a M-56 contact truck. The generator-welder is powered by a belt pulley that is driven by the main transmission. To use it while the vehicle is stationary, there is a rear drive shaft disconnect that uses a sliding dog clutch like on the winch.

I was surprised to see that same belt pulley set up offered as an accessory on the early POWER WAGONs. Once again, Dodge engineers went to the parts room when they "invented" the M-56.

I wonder how much Davey had to do with building the M-56 contact truck.
