They use some kind of code, I think ford is ko-koff 10 times, either all at once, or drive it til you've cycled it 10 times. Did you try a web search yet? And radios have a code too, to prevent theft. You may need a dealer code to fix the radio.

Yes, new stuff has sensors in the tank that control evaporative emissions. Try a new cap?
