That is the type of clamp that the POWER-WAGON came with (the civilian trucks at least) not sure about all of the military Dodges. They have two halves and two nuts; the saddle halves are forged with a radius containing ribs that match the lay of the cable. One half saddles over the working leg of the cable, the other saddles over the loose leg of the cable. One of the two halves has male pins that fit into the female pins of the other half so they can not become misaligned. The outer surfaces of the halves have external tapered threads. The two nuts, one at each end, have internal tapered threads. The tighter you draw on the nuts, the tighter the cable is clamped. I use a 5-inch bench vice and a 24-inch pipe wrench with cheater bar to thread these parts together. One nut has a large hole to accept both cable legs at the thimble end. The other has a smaller hole because the loose end of the cable is meant to be contained within the assembly.

If using these with a Flemish Eye, a couple of things must happen for the eye to come loose under load. First, the Flemish Eye must unweave. Second, the loose end of the cable must spiral as it is pulled out of the matching forged ribs of the saddles. It kind of works on the principle of Chinese Handcuffs. Because of the way the Flemish Eye is woven, the way the two halves of the cable leg are woven back together into one, and the way the saddles have ribs that match the lay of the cable, the assembly builds up more internal resistance to unraveling as load increases.

I will see if I can find a unit not already installed on a winch cable and get some photos.
