Matt, I know that the new style filter had a huge impact on my oil pressure.
By going back to old filter it corrected itself.
Food for thought, Picture this, engine starts, Oil pumps oil,Pressure valve opens, almost immediatly, oil flows through filter,
wich is leaking inside,pressure drops due to no restriction in the filter, but not enough to close valve.Result: Low oil pres.
The oil pumps a lot more pressure than is needed, especially a newly rebuilt engine with close tolerance's,the valve is going to open and stay open.
Wonder if you, removed oil filter return line, and pluged port at valve, with engine running, I would imagine oil will flow out the filter end of hose into a can?
Have to go will follow up later.
Keep looking for replacement filter. TGP
